How cool. Let's see, we have a Firefly book, sisterhood, a drink, a song, a charity, a tribute wall, a Birthday card...

Do we have a desert, food, attire (tinkerbell clothing) anything else?

I commented on your Facebook page, but I have to tell you how much I LOVE this song! Actually I started listening to other Owl City songs and I have totally fallen in love with them!! Thank you SO much for "introducing" me! :) You picked a perfect theme song for us!!!

That's funny because my co-worker was singing this song yesterday and it got stuck in my head. Has anybody heard the album yet? I was thinking of purchasing this song, but I wondered if the rest of it was worth it. I do like this song.

Speaking of music, I saw Carolina Liar, OneRepublic, and Rob Thomas last night. They were spectacular and I had a great time even though it was a late night and I don't have Veterans' Day off (so I'm obviously running late).

Yay for the theme song!!!

This is pathetic to admit but my laptop doesn't have sound. Waaaaaa Must borrow kids' computer and listen.

Patricia--you are so right: we have a Firefly book, sisterhood, drink, song, charity, tribute wall, Birthday card...

But no food!! Being a total food gal, we MUST come up with Firefly Food. And on that same note (being a food gal) I so can't wear Tinkerbell Clothing. Wish. Oh how I wish!! :)

April, LOVE your new haircut (saw it on Facebook!!)

Hey April, you asked about purchasing the CD? I looked up all of Owl City's songs on Youtube and have them in a playlist. There are only a few that I don't care for that much, so I want BOTH of their CD's! Deepdiscount.com has them both at great prices! I am completely hooked on "Fireflies" though. I can't stop listening to it!

Kristin,
Left you a note on your facebook about your book tour. I begged you to think about coming to Books & Co. at The Greene in Dayton. They do a fabulous job with authors.

Don't hate me, but I sent Sharon Roth, Director of PR, for Books & Co., a brief e-mail asking if they'd submit a request to St Martens Press to bring you here.

Sharon just called me and said she has already put in a request and that they have been trying to get you to come to Dayton for years.!! Sharon said they would absolutely love to host you in Dayton. You have a following here and sell books.

Now, about Dayton -- it is the crossroads to America, due to the I-70 and I-75. We are about 1 hr from Cincinnati, 1 hr 20 min from Columbus, 2+ hrs from Toledo, 1 hr from Richmond, Ind., 2 hrs from Indianapolis, and 2 hrs from Lousiville, KY. There are so many cities in between.

Please consider. I won't say anymore -- just hope.

Thanks, Kim! It's a bit flat today from the cold rain.

Thanks for the input, Andrea! I think I'll have to spend some time on iTunes soon (I have the new Bon Jovi coming).

Hm... side dishes. I'm making cointreau cranberry sauce (can make it with OJ, but it's tasty with a bit of cointreau). I'm contemplating making a roasted cauliflower in cheese sauce. I mostly do appetizers. I'm thinking crab dip which is one of my favorite things - easy and full of things I don't like combined to make the yummiest treat.

I'm always looking for new things though. Normally, I make side dishes so unhealthy that I only make them once a year for Thanksgiving (like my creamed corn with bacon).

Patricia---

Well, first and foremost, I'm going to bring up leg warmers as the official Firefly outfit accessory. :)

As to coming to Dayton, I would LOVE to. I had no idea that the store had been asking for me. This brings up a TOP SECRET promotional thing that is being worked on, though, and since I know you'll be checking the website, when you hear the word house party, check closely. And I'll talk to my publicity people. It might be possible to squeeze Dayton in after chicago...we'll see. Thanks for the tip!

Andrea and April---

Glad you're loving the song, too. Aren't the words just lovely? And April, we ALL want that cranberry and cointreau recipe...:)

I downloaded the song last night. I haven't tried this version of the recipe, but it's similar to my old one (which resulted in a kitchen fire so we're not doing that one again).

SERVES 6 -8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients
12 ounces fresh cranberries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 teaspoons orange zest
2 tablespoons Cointreau liqueur

Directions
1 Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan.

2 Bring to a boil; add cranberries, return to a boil.

3 Reduce heat and boil gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4 Remove from heat. Add orange zest and Cointreau (or Grand Marnier) and stir.

5 Let cool at room temperature.

6 Refrigerate until cold, or serve at room temperature.

For a side dish I reccomend cajun stuffing. It's really yummy!!! ANd it's funny because normaly I don't like spicy things and I have to roots, ties, anything in any pleace where cajun is normal cuisine. Also I was digging through some of my grandma's old recipies and I found these two, and they looks good.

Rhubard Crunch for 12

Spread 4 cups chopped rhubarb on bottom of 9x13" pan. Sprinkle on a pinch of salt. Put 1 cup sliced strawberries. Sprinkle 1 cup sugar.
Sprinkle 1 small box straberry jello over top. Topping: Spread box dry white cake mix then pour 1 cup water over this. Dribble 1/3 cup melted butter. Top with 1 cup chopped nuts (optional). Bake at 325 degrees - 1 hour. Serve warm with ice cream.

And

Poppy Seed Salad dressing

1 cup safflower oil
1/2 cup vinegar
2/3 cup sugar
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1 small grated onion
1 tbsp poppy seed
Mix and whip until well mixed.

I know that I am SOOO late in responding to this post, but I was very excited to see that Fireflies by Owl City was picked as the official song! I remember mentioning it on this blog when it came out as a freebie on ITunes back in July, so it was SOO cool to see that other people liked it as well! Thanks Kristin! I am planning to get back to reading the blog soon. I have so many audiobooks downloaded, and I am listening to The Help right now.. That book is SO phenomenal.. What a READ!!
