Hey all you fireflies---

Just want to remind you that the contest for an advance copy of True Colors ends soon! So send your entry in today and don't forget to let me know you're a firefly...

Also, Firefly Lane comes out in trade paperback tomorrow, so tell your friends!

Aloha,

Kristin

I entered, but I can't guarantee that I put that I'm a Firefly. I'm a little backwards when it comes to contest-entering. Not a huge deal as I'm not the winning sort anyway. :)

Yay for the paperback! I'll have to give a peek next time I'm at the store. I do have a couple I need to pick up. Good luck!

I entered also, even though the rules said it was a national contest, so Belgian entries probably don't count. In case it's still regarded as a valid entry, I'm pretty sure my name will give away that I'm one of the fireflies (since I don't think there will be more than one Leen in this contest), even though I forgot to add that.

As for the rest: I just got back from a fantastic holiday in Canada, which I wish could have lasted longer because I always feel so happy there. Of course, it doesn't help that I got home only to feel sick as a dog. I think I got some kind of virus or maybe even the flu, which makes me feel as if I don't have any energy at all, even though I'm WAY behind on my work schedule. Gonna be tough to catch up on all that once I feel slightly better, so my contributions to this blog might be scarse and short for now.

Happy new year to you all, by the way!

Love,
Leen

All entered and identified! That was the first thing I did after surgery I believe. HA! Gotta have priorities. This Firefly can't wait to see the winners! Even though I was SO fortunate, along with Cindy W, to read the unedited version, I am hoping to win badly!

Even if I don't get picked, I can't wait for those that are picked to read the book, and read their thoughts. It's awesome! I can't wait to read it again!

Best to all of you! Lisa

Eeek! I haven't entered, but I have a good excuse. We had company over the holidays and I actually got a short term contract (that's now over) to earn some money. But life is settling back to normal and I'm going to get my entry in today!

Kristen? Kim? Where are you guys? Pulling my name out of the contest hat, I hope!

Seriously, let us know what's shaking and if you're still buried in snow! =)

Lisa, you are so funny!! Well I can tell you what I've been doing--working my little fingers to the bone. LOL Kristin is at full steam, writing, writing, writing, and WRITING. And I'm desperately trying to keep up with her (and failing!! LOL).

On Friday we will announce the contest winners. Very exciting!!

And yes, the snow has finally left us. Whoooo Hoooo. I love the white stuff BUT in moderation. Being snowed in for weeks was not fun (especially as the kids were practically bouncing off the walls!!)

Just wanted to say my condolences. I just read Prison Break was cancelled today.

Kim/Kristin, are you guys planning to be in DC this summer for RWA? I know it's rough with the economy and super duper early to ask, but I thought I would anyway. I didn't know if any of the Fireflies were planning on going. I'll obviously be there for the Literacy signing at the very least.

Hey Kim & Kristin!

While you're busy writing, I'm doing my share of correcting exams. I'd love to swap you, though... correcting is definitely NOT my favourite part of teaching. I'm trying to get finished on the first exam tonight (ok, it's morning here, but I still live on Canadian time), so this is one of my last few breaks before I'm done until Monday.

In the mean time I feel glad I'm not ill anymore (was some kinda flu, I think) and I'm looking forward to "True Colors" like nothing else now! In fact: ordering the book will be my present to myself for working so hard on the corrections! I'm still in the middle of a Jody Picoult novel right now, though. Read her name on here and discovered one of my "family members" in Canada considers her her favourite author.

Actually... I'd say my favourite author is Kristin, if only she came outta hiding to write another blog post on here. But since she's getting kinda slow at that (she's my best friend's age, whom I pester all the time saying she's old, so I figure that explains things with Kristin too... ;)) I'll have to reconsider. After all: for one to be a favourite author, there's gotta be some kind of proof that you're actually writing! And no, I don't take Kim's word for it that you are!

Love,
Leen

PS. Of course, it could just as well be that I'm not really correcting either. The joke between my friend in Canada and me when I first was gonna fly over and meet her was that either one of us could really be an axe murderer. After flying back and forth 9 times already, I figure we're pretty safe now. :)

April--

I'm not planning on RWA in Washington DC this year, unfortunately. I have a lot of travel coming up in the next few months, and honestly, I'm a little tired. So this summer I'm going to hang at home with friends and family, but I'd love to have a few firefly spies out there to tell us all the news that's fit to print.

You can be reporter April, on the spot...

Leen--

Once again you crack me up! So I'm lazy AND old. :) :) Or maybe I'm lazy because I'm getting old. Yeah, I like that. I have a new excuse.

Kim and I have been working hard, but it's slowing down now, thank Goodness. Not for Kim, though; she's got her own revisions coming up, so you can all send her good thoughts for the next few weeks.

Keep correcting those papers!

aloha,

K

Lots of good thoughts to Kim!

I do know the feeling, cuz there's a lot of people around here who think us teachers have the easiest job in the world: all those days off and a loooong summer break. Well... I pretend I agree (I even tell them in advance: "I'm a teacher - I know it's not really a job cuz we don't work, but ya gotta do something for a living, right?" - with a big, understanding smile on my face), but I know better. So I make jokes about other people being lazy when I know they've got their hands full too.

In the mean time: I'm trying to think of some kinda reward for myself, cuz when I'm done correcting this bunch of exams, I'll so deserve a break from it all and I already know a lot of other tasks that are awaiting me which aren't any fun either. Oh well... I'm just looking for an excuse to go back to Canada anyways. ;)

Love,
Leen
